Abortive Chemicals
Common emmenagogues are rosemary, sage, yarrow, pennyroyal, and angelica. There are many more, but these are some of the herbs I have seen commonly in skin products. Not all emmenagogues induce abortion. Their purpose is to promote menstruation. Though, in people who already have irregular menses or weak embryos/eggs, they can induce an abortion. Inducing an abortion takes stronger herbs than preventing it from happening in the first place.

Rosemary, neem oil, black cohosh, Ginger, blue cohosh, Juniper berries, and myrrh extract are all common ingredients in herbal skin products. They are powerful uterine stimulants and are the last thing a person wants to be taking when they are trying to get pregnant.
Implantation inhibitors act by preventing the fertilized egg (embryo) from implanting into the uterine wall and producing a pregnancy. Some of the more well known implantation inhibitors are wild carrot, neem oil, juniper root, and cotton root. If the embryo is not able to implant into the uterine wall, it will die and breakdown.
I am not trying to bash herbal skin creams. I think that there are many herbal skin creams out there that are fine for women not trying to conceive. I do have an issue with the idea that just because something is "All Natural" or "Organic" that it is safe. Synthetic compounds are not all bad, just as natural compounds are not all good. There are many examples of naturally occurring poisons, such as the tree frogs found in the Amazon whose skin makes a poison that the Amazon people used to use to tip their arrows to kill prey. That poison is "all natural" and "wild-crafted," but not something you want to put on your skin.
In summary, there are numerous compounds frequently found in herbal treatments that are very detrimental to fertility. There are people who specialize in herbal contraception and abortions and there is scientific evidence to support their practices. One of the problems with herbal supplements is that it can be very hard to know exactly what the amount of certain chemicals in them is. In addition, there is not much data on the toxicity of herbal supplements, as they are not regulated by the FDA and there are not many well done human studies on them.
