This is also supported by numerous scientific studies showing the negative effects of the most common ingredients in skin products on fertility. Approximately 10-15% of the chemicals in skin creams are absorbed through the skin into the body. A scientific study on teenage girls has shown that 15% of the sunscreen components (oxybenzone, octinoxate, etc) from one application of the product can be found in their urine. Oxybenzone and octinoxate are directly toxic to human eggs. Is this a good idea?About Us
Fertil Skin is a company dedicated to reducing the negative effects of skin products on your fertility. The rate of infertility in this country goes up every year. This used to be blamed on the fact that women were having children at older ages. For the past decade, that age has stayed about the same, but the rate of infertility keeps going up. Why is this happening? This is not only due to all the toxic chemicals in our water, air, and food, but also due to the toxic chemicals in our skin products.
Organic herbal products are not a simple answer. Organic products are excellent, as they are free of pesticides and other toxins. But, herbal products, just because they are natural, are frequently harmful to fertility. Keep in mind that many herbs, such as Rosemary were, and are, still used to induce abortions. Many herbs have strong stimulant effects on the uterus (womb) and others can cause birth defects. There are some herbs used in skin cremes that are perfectly safe for fertility. The problem is that most warning labels are designed to protect the user from rashes and other major toxic effects. None of these warning labels are concerned with your fertility.
This affects not only women, but men also. In my practice, I have seen as big of a decrease in egg quality, as I have in sperm counts/quality. What are we to do? Just as we have all been educating ourselves over the past ten to fifteen years about the dangers of other toxins in our environment, such as cigarette smoke, lead in the water, and most recently, BPA from plastic bottles, it is time to educate ourselves about the toxic effects of chemicals in our skin care products.
The chemicals present in most skin care products fall into three categories:
1. Estrogen-Like Chemicals
2. Embryo toxic chemicals
3. Abortive chemicals
